The Alpha Alpha Gamma Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma, Fraternity Inc., received its charter on September 9, 2010, in Spring Lake, NC. Chartering members include the Honorable Brother Chris V. Ray, who served as the Inaugural President, Brother Jermaine Kearney, the late Brother Dr. Paul E. Jones, Brother Durwin Boone, and Brother Lawrence Smalls. Their collective vision identified a shortage of community support activities, prompting them to establish the chapter to fulfill this need and uphold the fraternity's commitment to service.

Our chapter has been a pillar of support for the Spring Lake community for more than fourteen years. Local initiatives, such as My Brother’s Keeper, have made a significant impact in combating male homelessness and feeding those lacking the necessary resources to sustain themselves. The sponsorship of Spring Lake Middle School and South View High School through the Adopt-a-School program, has been a significant method we use to shape the future for our community. Nationally, we extend our services through partnerships with esteemed organizations such as the March of Dimes, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and the Sigma Education Foundation, among others. Moreover, we are proud to sponsor the Sigma Beta Club, a youth auxiliary group aimed at providing positive mentorship to the young residents of our community.
