Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., an international organization comprised of 150,000 college-educated men, focuses on issues that impact the youth and our communities. Through our national mentoring program for males ages 8-18, the organization provides opportunities for the development of young men as they prepare for college and the workforce. The organization’s partnerships with the American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Boy Scouts of America and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund speak to its mission to address societal ills including health disparities and educational and developmental challenges for young males.
By forging an official partnership with Southview High School and Spring Lake Middle School, Alpha Alpha Gamma Sigma brings a unique approach to empowering underprivileged youth. Our multifaceted strategy, which includes programming, fundraising, and advocacy, aims to provide structured mentorship opportunities on a short-term basis. This collaboration will foster synergy across Sigma’s key program areas: Bigger and Better Business, Education, Social Action, and the Sigma Beta Club.
Our commitment to the Adopt-A-School program is unwavering, and we are actively seeking grant funding to bolster our initiatives. This financial support will play a crucial role in covering the costs associated with our current and future programs, which are specifically tailored to address the unique needs of the schools within our partnership network. The potential impact of these programs on the schools is significant, making this partnership and the need for grant funding all the more compelling.
Each quarter, we beautify the area along S. 3rd Street between Spring Avenue and Andrews Church Rd. by keeping it clean of debris. Our designated area spans 1 mile. In doing so, we provide a clean environment and give civic pride to the community. This serves as a reminder not to litter and saves taxpayers money.
We provide financial support for club operations, offer one-on-one, group mentoring, and facilitate program activities for young men in grades 6-12. We focus on improving academic scores, service learning, gentlemanly grooming, post-secondary educational planning, and forming community partnerships.
