The founders of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. were all educators. The genesis of the Education Program lies in the traditional emphasis that the Fraternity places on Education. During the 1945 Conclave in St. Louis, Missouri, the fraternity underwent a constitution restructuring after World War II, and this led to the birth of Education as a National Program.
The National Program of Education focuses on programming and services to alumni and collegiates in the fraternity. Programs such as scholarships, lectures, college fairs, mentoring, and tutoring enhance this program on local, regional, and national levels.
Education is one of three national initiative programs of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. The fraternity believes that education is a key element to personal and professional growth. The program initiative focuses on providing educational programs and services such as scholarships, lectures, college fairs, mentoring, and tutoring for fraternity members and the community.
At the local level, the Alpha Alpha Gamma Sigma chapter is a beacon of support for this national initiative. Their annual Book Readings, Sigma Beta Scholarship Program, Back-to-School Backpack and School Supplies Drive, and the Sigma Beta Club are tangible manifestations of our commitment to Education.
A Spring Lake Middle School student is gifted a camera, flash, backpack, lenses, and accessories to pursue her dream of becoming a published photographer. Her passion for photography was ignited while working on the school yearbook. With this equipment, she can capture and share her unique perspective of the world. Our founders recognized the significance of empowering the community through education and access to resources. This act of generosity aligns with our founder's and charter members' vision, which remains relevant today.
